I recently had a chance to speak with Kathy on her views regarding the executive
job market. Kathy is a veteran in the
career services industry and understands that the current economic climate
poses particular issues for high level job seekers (those seeking executive
roles above $100K USD). That’s why Kathy has adopted a closer, more
personalized approach to act as a conduit between job seekers and employers through
personal service, networking introductions and ongoing education. (NETSHARE also has current, “real”, senior
level positions with a minimum base compensation of $100K, specifically for
their members.)
We talked about the state of retention and its influence on the job market. She
agrees that there is activity picking up in many areas and employers need to be
engaged and involved with their talent. People continue to seek challenging
roles and opportunities to gain professional growth, not just financial return.
Companies that do nothing about talent management might find themselves stuck. In today’s environment, there is research that
indicates that employed executives are less than happy with their current
employer and looking to make a change as soon as the market opens up.
In NETSHARE’S weekly “Ask the Coach” program, executives can ask their career
management or job search questions of a vetted, professional executive coach. One of the areas Kathy focuses on is choosing
the right career coach to get the right results on a timely basis. She knows that many people, desperate for a
job or a change, could gravitate to people who don’t offer the right guidance
based on the person’s job seeking goals. Bringing this wisdom to the NETSHARE
membership adds a leg up to an already stressful process. In a recent blog post
Kathy writes, “An effective career coach can help you make the most of
yourself… when seeking help with your career, be sure you are shopping for a
coach and not a crutch.”
Thanks
