I am
really looking forward to the debut of this new series after the Superbowl. The
premise is that CEOs from a variety of companies go incognito into the rank and
file of their companies. I will assume nobody knows what the CEO looks like or
how they’re going to pull this off to not get a Hawthorne Effect or similar.
The
trailer shows the experience of Larry O’Donnel, CEO of Waste Management. Other
leaders and companies profiled include 7-Eleven (Joseph M. DePinto, President
and C.E.O.), Hooters (Coby G. Brooks, President and C.E.O.),
The concept is great because these days so many leaders are out of touch with
their people. The 2008-2009 season of layoffs and company closures hasn’t
helped either. As we see some uptick in the 2010 job market, talent retention
is critical and understanding what employee’s are thinking is important to
leaders. I hope this show helps to influence executive thinking and best
practices in several workplaces.
Series premiere February 7 after the Super Bowl at 8PM PST.
